Elections

Elections are occurring in the April meeting. Nominating committee will convene in March.

Incorporation

Reminder that NA passed resolution in January 2005 authorizing incorporation. At next general meeting, NA will vote for bylaws amendments that address liability. These are a necessity before the incorporation can happen.

Crime Watch

Rory Yocum has been attending DPD crime watch meetings and getting up with speed. Darrell Wood, President of Eastwood NA, attended, and his NA is further down the path than us.

Volunteers needed. Training is offered at the Northeast Substation for volunteer patrol. The gist is that volunteers pick different times and just drive around neighborhood and keep an eye on things. Please email Rory at ryocum@kw.com if you can help.

Anther option is paying for off-duty police officers, but this may be costly.

Discussion of apparently heightened crime in Casa Linda Shopping Center and other retail areas. Discussion of crime inside neighborhood, especially on Galway.

Discussion of having a police officer at a future meeting to discuss crime issues.

Discussion of operation of volunteer crime patrolling with Darrell Wood, Eastwood NA president.

Beautification Committee

Moving forward on Galway Circle landscape project. We have applied with City of Dallas's MOWMentum program which should contribute up to 50% of the funds. Designed by Molly Walters, a neighborhood resident who is a landscape professional.

Holiday lights contest was ad hoc, so no prizes this year. President expressed appreciation for all the decorations. Beautification committee put Santa hats on a stake to notable lawns.

Activities/Welcome Committee

Welcome Committee is currently defunct. Please email Will White if you would like to volunteer.

Celebration Tree Grove

Daleen Maxwell presented. We are at $500 of our $1,000 contribution goal to be a founding sponsor of the grove.

Grove is at Poppy & E. Lawther. Landscape designer has picked out 48 trees of 6”-8” diameter. Trees should be present within 3 months.

The project was mentioned in The White Rocker.

It's important that we do this because we are the closest neighborhood to this tree grove.

Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills, Dixon Branch, Old Lake Highlands, Peninsula.

Make checks out to For The Love of the Lake to ensure tax deductibility.

Treasurer's Report

Current balance: $7,418.35.

Past year: $720 in dues and donations, $340 for newsletter advertising. $576 spending on newsletter. $245 on PO BOX, $1364 on both picnics, $21.85 in other miscellaneous charges.

Most of the current balance is reserved for the Galway Circle project.

Suggested that we do another round of donation solicitations for Galway Circle project.
