LPENA Board Meeting Minutes, 10-10-06
Board members in attendance: Aren Cambre, Kathy Renaud, Jennifer Hoesterey,
and Rory Yocum.
Others in attendance: Krista de la Harpe (Galway Circle project), Andrea
Hosterman (fundraising)
Galway Circle
- Krista is working up a donation for some of the materials.
- Two items needing follow up:
- Need final take from City of Dallas on status of MOWMentum program.
- Need reasonable estimate of total cost so that we can run
fundraising drive to get additional costs.
- Krista wants to work more trees into the plan.
- Sprinklers would need to be installed before trees and rocks and other
hardscape.
Fall Picnic
- LPENA will do a bounce house or carnival. Aren will check with a
Richardson Cub Scout pack to see if they still do carnival stuff as a
fundraiser.
- Costume prizes will be gift certificates. Prizes will be handed out for
most original, scariest, and cutest.
- LPENA will fund gift certificates, probably $25 each.
- Rory will obtain donated meat, hamburger buns, condiments.
- Aren will arrange for tables.
- Aren will invite some people from outside the NA.
- Some discussion about inviting a candidate for a particular office.
Decided that while that could be a nice gesture, it is taking sides on a
current race unless we invite both sides. However, inviting both candidates
in such a high profile race could cause a sticky situation. Aren expressed
that he prefers to limit invitations to current officeholders so we avoid
the appearance of taking sides.
- This will take the place of the fall general meeting. No neighborhood
business is scheduled to be conducted at the picnic.
Holiday Lights Contest
- Categories: most creative, brightest (wattage award), Santa Award (best
overall)
- Aren will get donations, targeted at $25 each.
- Lights must be up by the 20th, prizes announced on the 23rd.
- Rory will find 3 parties to do judging.
Graffiti
Discussion of graffiti observed behind house on Tipperary and on Donegal
manhole cover. Discussion that Dallas may require homeowners to remove graffiti
from their own property.
Project Prioritization
The following projects were deemed to have highest priority:
- Starting up a Crime Watch
- Galway Circle landscaping
- Incorporation
Each of the following projects will be shelved until resources open up,
either because a motivated resident takes it on or because the termination of an
active project opens up sufficient resources:
- Monument by Athlone and Buckner (also dependent on other factors beyond
board control)
- Home tour fundraiser
- Camera surveillance
- Membership campaign
- Fundraising campaign (may want to wait until corporation gets 501(c)(3)
status for tax deductibility)
- Online dues payments (also needs to wait until incorporation is
completed)
- Membership directory
Meeting adjourned at 8:33 PM.
