LPENA Board Meeting Minutes, 1-9-07

Meeting call to order at 7:42PM by Aren Cambre

 

Josh and Aren are 2 members who can sign checks for LPENA, Inc.

 

Galway Circle:

-          Krista’s vision for the Galway Circle plan presented

-          Planning on getting bids this approaching month

-          Japanese Maples are recommended.

-          Hoping to get Pavestones donated to project

-          Presented drawing of updated design idea for circle project

-          Center of circle:  Either a monumental Japanese Maple or a Table

-          Suggest donated benches later down the road that people can “Sponsor”

-          Suggest haul in 3 loads of dirt to create Burms

-          Start off with 6 or so trees and maybe add a new tree each year

-          Add some large landscaping stones around the existing tree areas

-          Krista volunteered to present the idea at the next General Meeting

-          Krista would like to oversee the project and have some assistance with execution

-          Need hard bids for all aspects.

-          Need listing of landscape companies for bids on project

-          Order of Installation:

o        Dirt

o        Water Meter

o        Irrigation System

o        Pavestones

-          Need formal approval of final plan and costs before re-submitting to Mowmentum Program.

 

Casa Linda Project:

-          Rory will be attending the meeting and taking notes

-          Suggest to just take notes and listen, as they will have plenty of information to relay

-          Possible questions for the meeting:

o        When do they plan on starting any construction

o        Who do we communicate with during construction for any issues that may arise from a security perspective or other problems.

o        Plans for Albertson’s Grocery store?  Could you expand the existing Albertson’s if replaced with another chain?

-          Terry Syler will try and be at the meeting as well

-          Suggest that as many people as possible show up to meeting.

-          Check and see if they are still planning on upholding the agreements that Regency made in regards to the Garland/Buckner intersection project.  (pavestones, irrigation, etc…)

 

Garland/Buckner Project:

-          Scot Williams will present the update on the project at General Meeting

 

Todd Howard would like to present to the General Meeting on Global Warming.

 

Suggestion to maybe have a tree gifted and planted in the Galway Circle for new births in the neighborhood.

 

Christmas Lights Contest Winners:

$75: Most Unique Winner: Martha Choate, 1155 Tranquilla

$25: Most Unique Runner up: Clifford & Donna Welch, 1019 Waterford

$75: Best display winner: Jeffrey & Morag Johnson, 1130 Tranquilla

$25: Best display Runner up: Ann Marie Sury, 9814 Galway

$75: Most Wattage Winner: Alicia Hoyle & Michael Wohlfeld, 1175 Tranquilla

$25: Most Wattage Runner up: John & Rebecca Briley, 9606 Tralee

May Block Party Committee:

-          Kathy Renaud Committee chair

-          Kathy will meet with Aren to discuss details

-          Agreed among board members to keep similar theme

-          May 12th selected as date for Block Party.

 

Nominating Committee

-          Need to decide at March or April board meeting for the nominating committee

-          Recommendations made to try and bring in new people to the next board

 

Crime Watch Report

-          Only 4 incidents in last month.

-          2 burglaries of motor vehicles (Smash and grab on street)

-          2 burglaries of homes ( Tralee and Peavy)

-          5 less total incidents in 2006, compared to 2005

-          N.E. Substation is hiring new officers, they are doing a lot of training at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Plano Rd.

-          Suggested to scrap Crime Watch program and share off-duty police presence with other surrounding neighborhoods.  Easier to get money for this than volunteers for Crime Watch Patrol which no one wants to do.

-          Suggest to have a new line on form to allow people to donate to the patrol program.

 

Treasurer’s Report

-          Balance:  $8,800.95 across both accounts

-          Old account will be closed out in next 30 days

-          Raised $2,800.00 in dues, advertising

-          Spent approximately $1,900.00

-          Suggested to setup online method for membership and payment with paypal.

-          109 active memberships out of 288 homes.
