7:41pm Meeting called to order by Aren
1. 1108 North Buckner - No new information since emails from earlier today. All agree that a commercial property at this location would be logistically difficult. Commercial property would likely increase traffic issues at this intersection. Aren will continue to get more information
2. Monopoly Place Off-duty Police Patrol - Aren talked to them about possibly sharing a few hours with Monopoly place for 5-10 hours a month. Previous board meeting had voted approval budget of up to $200.00 per month ($2,400.00 per year) towards patrol. Aren will continue coordinating this with Monopoly Place and provide additional details.
3. Incorporation Update - Name officially changed back to Lake Park Estates Neighborhood Association, Inc. Next step is to file Form 1023 with IRS to gain Section 501c3 status for Non-Profit Organizations. $300.00 fee for filing. SMU Lawyers are drafting paperwork.
4. Galway Circle Update - Aren handed out information sheet on cost estimates. All present agreed that costs are getting too high on the project and are outside scope of original project expectations. All have agreed to have Electricity and Irrigation removed from project and revert back to original simple landscaping plan. Also a big concern over ongoing costs with Electricity and Irrigation.
5. Nominations Committee - Deadline of end of month given by Jennifer to committee to come up with names. Committee Members: Jennifer Hoesterey, Andrea Hostermann, Gary McDonald are on committee so far.
6. Membership Renewals -
a. All agree that membership drive is necessary.
b. Karen is getting the SASE prepared
c. Use colored paper for membership application.
d. Jennifer is getting the application form/letter and sending to
Aren for review and updating.
e. Josh will print out the application letter
f. Membership drive will coincide with Newsletter distribution in
April.
7. Motion made by Karen Pape to raise dues to $30.00 as authorized in the Bylaws, seconded by Aren Cambre. All board members present voted in favor of increase.
8. Lowes Gift Cards - Still have not received gift cards from
Lowes. Aren has coordinated with previous store manager, who is talking
to current store manager to get done.
9. Bond Issue/Erosion Work - Confirmed by Gary Griffith that our requirements are part of the first bond package sale in May. One million of bond is supposed to be allocated towards erosion work.
10. Low neighborhood attendance in LPENA General Meetings - Signs did not go out for last meeting. Need to organize high profile guest speakers to attract higher attendance. Aren will coordinate speaker for April General Meeting.
11. Block Party Planning - Kathy Renaud is organizing the block party. Scheduled for May 12th.
12. Crime Watch Report - Sporadic small theft, nothing major reported for area recently. Richard Fleming observed 4 suspicious individuals out of place walking through neighborhood, which he followed until they left the neighborhood. Empty house on Galway circle had its garage door smashed in, police were called by Susie, next doors and report filed. Another empty house up for sale on Galway Dr was burglarized and appliances stolen.
13. Treasurer Report -
a. $8,505.00 current balance in new account
b. $50.00 current balance in old account
c. Josh will close old account this month.
