Neighborhood Protection:
- Showing a downward trend in crime from 1997 to now. Most are crimes of opportunity related to open garage doors, cars parked on streets and on outskirts of neighborhood.
- Only rated at 2% crime rate
- ENP recommendation comes in at over $74,000.00 per year.
- Crime watch district for joint ENP?
o Considering joining with Eastwood and Old Lake Highlands on joint patrolling. Aren will talk with them.
- Cameras: Reported that they can dramatically decrease crime rates.
- Emergency Listserv (cell phone): List server is up, just not populated with numbers yet. Will be used for emergency contact during emergency type events, crime, weather related, etc…. Will be controlled access on who can post to listserv to prevent overuse or misuse.
- More vigilance needed in neighborhood to help spread the word and keep an eye on each other.
Beautification:
- Galway Circle: No new updates.
- Waterford Circle: Nancy Daniels's lawn service will service the area for $15.00 and she’ll bill LPENA at end of summer.
- Yard Of The Month: Need new person to take over this position as well as Beautification Committee chair.
Newsletter
- Going to printer this weekend. Get articles in to Lucy asap for inclusion.
General Meeting: July 26th at 19:00
- Location is secured for Doctor’s Hospital
- Guest speaker lined up pending confirmation tomorrow.
Traffic:
- Kilarney Drive: People running stop sign, kids playing in street, high traffic area. Quitze Nelson is heading this up.
- Garland/Buckner Intersection project:
o Utility clearance is supposed to be in progress, but no visible signs of progress yet.
o Todd Howard and Aren Cambre will be our POC for interfacing with TxDOT and City of Dallas on traffic control during construction.
o Aren will setup meeting with Steve Hefner w/AmREIT and the original intersection project meeting.
o Suggested to get “No Thru Traffic” signs posted at key entrances to neighborhood.
White Rock Task Force:
- Mark Hoesterey representing LPENA at task force.
Events:
- Block Party Instruction Manual:
- Establish timeline chart for lining up
- Fall Picnic: planning deferred to August meeting.
501c3 update:
- School is out for summer, have to wait until Fall for the next round of free lawyers to finalize non-profit status.
Crime Watch Report:
- No response on VIP program. Only had 5 people trained, need 15 to support successful program.
- Alleys need to be cleaned up so patrols can drive down alleys.
- Suggested to put house numbers on back fences in alley ways.
